Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - After the knife attack in the Frankfurt train station district, the suspect is to be brought before a judge on Wednesday.
The police also announced that the 42-year-old is being investigated for attempted homicide.
The man is said to have attacked and injured several people on the street with a knife on Tuesday morning.
Three victims aged 24, 40 and 78 were hospitalized seriously injured.
A 40-year-old suffered minor injuries.
The police were able to arrest the alleged perpetrator with knife in hand.
According to previous investigations, the attacker had initially attacked a 40-year-old man lying on the sidewalk.
The police are now specifically looking for an unknown witness who is said to have rushed to the aid of this victim and sprayed the perpetrator with pepper spray.
The police were initially unable to provide any further information on the perpetrator's motive or the condition of the injured.
