Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The government coalition has presented the proposal for a new pandemic law, which should be valid until December 31, 2022.

It also provides for special powers for the state government in the event of a disaster, but involves the state parliament more closely.

The amendment is to be introduced to the state parliament on Thursday.

The current pandemic law allows the government, among other things, to confiscate medical material if necessary.

It was decided last April after intensive debate and limited to March 31, 2021.

According to the will of the CDU and FDP, the new law should apply until the end of 2022.

However, it only takes effect as long as the state parliament declares the "pandemic situation" for NRW - the corona disaster, so to speak.

A new passage in the black and yellow bill is devoted to the greater involvement of the state parliament, which the opposition had repeatedly called for.

«The state parliament can adopt pandemic guidelines that are generally limited to three months.

The state government takes into account the guidelines adopted by the state parliament in the decisions to be made by it in the context of the pandemic, ”says the beginning of the amendment.

As for the specific changes to the Corona Protection Ordinance, the government should undertake to inform the state parliament before the announcement.

The state parliament does not have to approve individual changes.

The governing coalition announced last week that it would invite the SPD and the Greens to a discussion on the bill this Wednesday.
