Melbourne (dpa) - Tournament director Craig Tiley has denied that tennis professionals are among the people who tested positive for Corona before the Australian Open.

"No," Tiley said at a press conference when asked about it.

"Among the six cases from the Australian Open contingent plus the one who was a flight attendant, there are no players," said Tiley.

"You belong to the escort of the professionals."

Victoria State Health Minister Brett Sutton had previously said in a statement that two of the three new positive cases assigned to the Australian Open were also two professionals.

The trio - a woman in their twenties and two men in their thirties - are in hotel quarantine, the message said.

At the same time, there were discussions about the fact that the quarantine conditions could be relaxed for some of the 71 tennis professionals and companions who have been quarantined for 14 days, as there have been new classifications by the health authorities for some people who tested positive on the charter flights.

Sutton didn't want to confirm that on Tuesday.

There are currently no plans to relax the rules.

One of the 71 people who are not allowed to leave their hotel room for two weeks is the German number one Angelique Kerber.
