Memmingen (dpa / lby) - The number of passengers at Allgäu Airport also fell dramatically due to the Corona crisis - but managing director Ralf Schmid is halfway satisfied with the annual balance sheet.

"If you compare our numbers with those of other German airports, we got away with a black eye," said Schmid on Monday.

In a nationwide comparison, Allgäu Airport was hit far less hard than other airports.

On average for all airports, the airport near Memmingen recorded the second-smallest decrease in passengers with a minus of around 60 percent.

Last year the airport had almost 691,000 passengers, after more than 1.7 million in the previous year.

The other two larger Bavarian commercial airports each had a more pronounced decrease of around 77 percent.

Munich Airport reported around 11.1 million passengers and Nuremberg around 917,000 in 2020.
