Mikael Lidén lives in Borås and commutes to work at Landvetter Airport.

The last week in September 2019, he drives several days that distance.

On Tuesday that week, he was met by loose gravel on the road when the road was scraped.

The speed was then reduced to 70 kilometers per hour.

Mikael says that he drove much slower than that and tried to give way to cars that drove around him.

- It's splashing down my whole car.

Two windows broke.

And lots of stone shots, he says.

Mikael filmed his journey himself.

Watch how he tries to give way to cars in the clip above.

On Thursday, he was hit again when asphalt got stuck under the car.

But it did not cause permanent damage to the car.

Damages for SEK 60,000

After the road work on highway 40 in September 2019, just over 170 people demanded compensation from the Swedish Transport Administration.

According to Mikael Lidén, his car was damaged for around SEK 60,000.

But Mikael did not receive any damages from the Swedish Transport Administration.

According to the authority, the road had been swept and there were signs with warning signs.

In the decision, the Swedish Transport Administration writes that it has not been shown that the Swedish Transport Administration or the contractor caused the damage through negligence.

Mikael Lidén is disappointed.

- I think someone should be held responsible.

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, it was signposted.

As a motorist, do you not have a responsibility to drive carefully?

- The problem is that the signs appeared after the last exit at Viared.

And between Viared and Bollebygd there is no possibility to stop or back or drive off the road.

The decision cannot be appealed

The decision from the Swedish Transport Administration states that Mikael's message cannot be considered.

Anyone who is dissatisfied may in that case sue the Swedish Transport Administration in court.

But it is a risk Mikael Lidén is not prepared to take.

- I can kindly pay my deductible of SEK 7,500.

It is difficult to fight against the Swedish Transport Administration and their lawyers.

The risk is that it costs more money than it provides.

To date, the Swedish Transport Administration has granted compensation in about 30 cases.
