Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Under pressure from the CDU, the green-black state government has decided on a further exception for children to the new corona contact restrictions.

"In order to alleviate family hardships, and in particular to meet the needs of families with small children or single parents, children up to 14 years of age in Baden-Württemberg are not counted," said Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) on Friday in the state parliament.

The federal and state governments agreed on Tuesday that from Monday on, private meetings should only be possible with a person who does not belong to their own household.

In contrast to the lockdown over the Christmas holidays, children under the age of 14 should be counted.

Kretschmann explained that this will now be changed in the Corona regulation for the country.

In addition, families with another family could form a care community.

However, during the lockdown it must always be the same two families who support each other with childcare.

The CDU warned on Thursday that many single parents, parents and self-employed people with children were “facing an insoluble task”.

The green side had promised childcare communities and facilities for single parents, but initially rejected a general exception for children under 14 years of age.

The new Corona regulation is currently still being coordinated with all ministries and should be announced this weekend.

Because of the corona pandemic, people will have to accept further significant restrictions on public life at least until the end of January.
