Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Families and teachers have to be prepared for the fact that there are no daily classroom lessons even after the end of the Christmas holidays.

Unrestricted regular operation will currently not be possible, said Education Minister Marco Tullner (CDU) on Monday, according to the announcement.

What that means for the individual grade levels, he left open with a view to the decisive consultations on further corona rules.

On Tuesday, the heads of government from the federal and state levels want to discuss whether and for how long the tough restrictions on public life will be extended.

It will also be about dealing with schools and daycare centers.

At the same time, the black-red-green state government is advising on the future corona rules.

On Monday, Tullner and his official colleagues from the federal states had already discussed teaching concepts in the corona pandemic at a conference of ministers of education (KMK).

Accordingly, the pupils in the 1st to 6th grades would first have to return to the schools for face-to-face lessons, as a KMK spokesman announced on Monday.

Later on, older cohorts could alternately study at school in addition to their homework, before everybody can go back to daily lessons at some point.

Under which conditions which level could take effect remained open.

Saxony-Anhalt recently extended the Christmas holidays in order not to carry possible infections into schools unnoticed during the holidays.

School starts again on January 11th.

In theory, teachers can voluntarily be tested for the coronavirus with rapid tests from January 7th.

Whether and how many classes will sit in classrooms next week should be known on Tuesday after the federal-state round.
