02 January 2021 Bad weather with snowstorms returns to hit Italy after 2020 with an average of more than four extreme events per day (4.1) for a total of 1,500 hailstorms, tornadoes, anomalous snowfalls, lightning storms and water bombs that have caused landslides, floods, very serious damage in the cities and in the countryside along the Peninsula but above all dozens of victims.

This is what emerges from an analysis by Coldiretti based on data from the European Severe Weather Database (ESWD) on the occasion of the yellow alert issued by the Civil Protection in 13 regions, from Veneto to Sicily.

It snows in Trentino

In Trentino it continues to snow even at the bottom of the valley.

The snowfall limit during the day will rise up to about 800 meters but during the night there were copious snowfalls in various areas of the province.

Liguria

Traffic was blocked on state road 45 'Di Val Trebbia' near km 34.500, in Torriglia (Genoa), due to the presence of a tree that fell on the road due to the strong wind.

After the heavy snowfall of the night, the A26 and A7 were closed to heavy vehicles over 7.5 tons.

In particular, in the A7 the limit is foreseen between the A7 / A12 Genoa-Livorno junction and the A7 / A26 Tunnel junction and between Serravalle Scrivia and Genoa Bolzaneto.

In the A26 the limitation is between the A26 / A10 Genova-Ventimiglia junction and the A26 / Diramaz junction.

A7 Milan-Genoa.

Campania

There are very few maritime connections made today to the islands of Ischia and Procida also due to the unfavorable weather conditions.

In addition to the reduced service of the shipping companies due to restrictions on travel, rough seas and strong winds from the south west were added, which resulted in the total stop of the fast-moving vehicles and the almost complete stop of ferry connections, to and from the ports of Naples and Pozzuoli.

Lazio

A large boat hit the drawbridge on 2 June at Fiumicino.

The impact was probably caused by the severe weather that hit the Lazio region this morning with violent storms.
