Britain has recorded the highest daily death toll from the Coronavirus since the start of the epidemic, while other countries such as China are tightening their measures to avoid the outbreak of the virus, while Jordan has reserved one million doses of the Pfizer-Bionic vaccine.

On Monday, the health authorities in Britain announced that 41,385 cases of corona were recorded during the past 24 hours, the highest daily toll since the start of the epidemic.

The authorities stated in a statement that the death toll from the virus during the last day reached 357, and raised the total deaths to 79,339.

She explained that the total number of injuries rose to two million 329,730 people, after 41,385 cases of corona were recorded during the past 24 hours.

And last week, the British government announced the discovery of a new strain of Corona virus, which it said was 70% faster than the original strain.

The government imposed tighter restrictions across the country, especially on the occasion of New Year's Eve holidays, against the backdrop of the escalating virus cases.

In China, the authorities tightened health measures to avoid any acceleration in the spread of the Corona virus on its soil, by strengthening the tests for detection of Covid-19 infection, temperature measurement and inspection at airports.

Contain the epidemic

China, where the virus first appeared about a year ago, has largely contained the epidemic, and its economic wheel has turned back.

But Beijing decided to reduce the risks to the maximum extent, after the acceleration of infection with the Corona virus in many parts of the world and the emergence of a new strain of the epidemic that experts believe is more capable of spreading.

The authorities imposed strict measures in the neighborhoods of the capital, Beijing, where possible cases of the virus were discovered.

Workers who take full precautions are spraying boats and passenger arrival halls at the airport, as part of a mobilization campaign to contain any possible outbreak of the virus in the winter season.

Queues lined up in front of a test center in the Shunyi district of Beijing, while observers inspected health data stored on quick response codes for visitors to Beijing hospitals.

China recorded only 21 new cases Monday, most of them from abroad.

The official death toll remains at 4,634, with nearly 87,000 infections confirmed by authorities.

In Kuwait, the Kuwaiti Cabinet said in a statement today, Monday, that it decided not to extend the suspension of commercial flights to and from Kuwait International Airport after the first Friday of January, and the land and sea border crossings will be opened on the following day.

The government communications office said last week that Kuwait had suspended all commercial flights and closed its land and sea borders until January 1, due to concerns related to a new strain of the rapidly spreading Corona virus.

After the cabinet meeting today, Monday, during which the Minister of Health confirmed that no new strains of Corona virus had been discovered in Kuwait to date, the Council decided not to extend the suspension of flights.

It also decided to open the land and sea borders daily, starting on the second Saturday of January from nine in the morning until three in the evening.

The statement added that the decisions will be reviewed according to the latest developments regarding the spread of the virus.

Free vaccine

In Jordan, the Jordanian Minister of Health, Nazir Obeidat, announced Monday that his country had reserved one million doses of Pfizer-Bionic vaccines, stressing that the first batches would arrive at the end of January or early February.

In statements reported by the official Jordanian News Agency (Petra), the minister said, "One million doses of the new Corona vaccine will arrive in the Kingdom in batches from Pfizer-Biontech."

Obeidat emphasized that the Kingdom is working to secure vaccines for "more than 20% (of the population of about 11 million people), that is, what suffices two million and 200 thousand citizens."

Early this month, the Jordanian Ministry of Health announced that it had signed an agreement with Pfizer-Biontec to supply the new anti-virus vaccine, and with "Kovacs", a mechanism developed by the World Health Organization that aims to accelerate the availability of tools to combat Covid-19.

It also indicated that it is in contact with "AstraZeneca" and "Johnson & Johnson" in order to obtain vaccines from them as well.

The Minister of Health said, "The ministry will distribute refrigerators that keep (vaccines) at a temperature of 80 degrees below zero in 20 health centers approved for vaccination in all governorates of the Kingdom within weeks."

Obeidat had stated last month that vaccinations would be free for Jordanians and residents of the kingdom.

Jordan has so far recorded 289,748 confirmed cases of the virus and 3,778 deaths.

On Sunday, the Minister of Health announced that the Kingdom had registered the first two cases of the mutated Corona virus, with a Jordanian couple and a delegation from Britain.

For months, Jordan has taken a number of measures to limit the spread of the epidemic in the country, as it imposes a night curfew throughout the country from ten in the evening local time until six in the morning, while a comprehensive curfew is imposed every Friday.

Universities and schools continue to be closed, distance education continues, while weddings and funerals are prohibited.

Jordan has opened 4 field hospitals during the past weeks in different areas designated to receive Covid-19 patients.
