Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Since the AfD moved into the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament, the Presidium has had to intervene more often in moderation in debates.

In the 17th electoral term, which was almost over, a total of twelve complaints were voiced, ten more than in the previous legislative term - until mid-December of the last year of the electoral term (i.e. 2015 and 2020).

The state parliament spokesman Marco Sussmann reported to the German press agency in Mainz.

In the 16th electoral period, however, only three parliamentary groups were represented in the state parliament: the SPD, CDU and the Greens.

In 2016, the AfD was added and the FDP moved back into the state parliament.

Of the 12 complaints, 6 went to the AfD, 2 each to the SPD and the Greens, and one to the CDU parliamentary group and one to the state government.

The FDP MPs did not get any.

In the course of the 17th electoral term, however, the complaints decreased, the debates became less aggressive, and not a single one was distributed in the December plenary session.

In addition, there were three calls to order during the entire 17th legislative period - all within a meeting on August 25, 2017 and all of them went to the AfD parliamentary group.

Once, because of repeated criticism of the chairman, an exclusion from the meeting was threatened.

According to statistics, the last call to order had previously been made in 1991.

A call to order is more important than a reprimand.
