Speaking to the forum about the implications of the stability of the Arab Gulf states, and the coherence of the positions of most of their countries, in a way that represents a solid ground for the Arab region and the region, Al-Hajraf said: “We live in a time full of changes and many developments, on the regional and international arenas, while the Arab Gulf is formed. Of great strategic importance, given that it is a vital energy supply artery, as the GCC countries have played a responsible role in maintaining the flows of energy supplies, despite all circumstances for 40 years, so it is not surprising that this harmony among the members of the Council constitutes a basic pillar in enhancing security and stability in The Middle East region and the whole world ».

Regarding the impact of this harmony in moving the stagnant waters of peace in the region over a period of more than a quarter of a century, in light of the peace treaties recently signed with Israel, the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf affirmed the firm position of the GCC states in support of the Palestinian right, which was confirmed by The various summits of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, out of a firm conviction of the importance of supporting the right of the Palestinian people, in accordance with the United Nations and Security Council resolutions and the agreed terms of reference in this regard.

He stressed that the GCC countries have always called for peace to prevail in the whole world, not just the region, given that peace provides an opportunity for development, focusing on building societies and supporting youth, as well as focusing on all development plans and projects that positively reflect on peoples' lives, matters that certainly require the availability of components. Security and stability, pointing to the GCC countries ’belief in the right of all peoples to live in peace, and that their relationship is built on the basis of a call for peace to prevail throughout the world.

Al-Hajraf noted that the steps taken recently in the region in the field of peace are the subject of all appreciation, recalling the Arab Peace Initiative, presented by the late Saudi monarch, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God have mercy on him, when he was crown prince, and his presentation at the Arab summit in Beirut 2002, and it reflects the overall position of the Arab countries towards the desired peace in the region, indicating that the initiative is still in place, and is based on the two-state solution, and the Palestinians' right to establish their independent state within the framework of the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to the right of Palestinian refugees to return. And other items included in the Arab Peace Initiative, indicating that Israel should reconsider this initiative, which represents a way to establish a comprehensive peace in the region.

In response to a question about the role of harmony that unites most of the members of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in confronting the challenges and ambitions surrounding the region, including the threat of terrorism, which today constitutes a threatening factor to the entire world, Al-Hajraf reviewed a series of important milestones in the history of the Council, whose launch came simultaneously With the outbreak of the Iranian revolution, as well as with the Iran-Iraq war, as the Council was able in the first decade of its life to overcome these security challenges, which posed a direct threat to the nascent Gulf entity.

He pointed out that the GCC countries are heading towards very important goals, as last November the Saudi Presidency of the Group of Twenty was concluded, a task in which the Kingdom has demonstrated its position and full entitlement to leadership by leading the group’s business in this extremely difficult period, with the economic and political weight the Kingdom represents. On the regional and international levels, at a time when the UAE is preparing to host the «Expo 2020», and we trust Dubai's ability to dazzle the world with a historic session for this huge global event, which represents a great deal of strategic importance for the UAE and the region.

A new kind of unconventional media
