Lichtenfels (dpa) - A police officer will be on trial in Bavaria from next week because of the possession of child pornography.

During a search, around 300 child pornography images and 74 video recordings were found in the now 26-year-old, said a spokesman for the Central Cybercrime Office at the Bamberg Public Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday.

The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation had previously reported on the case.

In addition, the defendant is said to have secretly taken nude photos of women in 13 cases.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the police officer was in custody, but has since been released. From Wednesday next week (December 16), he will have to answer for possession of child pornography and unauthorized images before the district court in Lichtenfels, Upper Franconia. For reasons of space, however, the hearing had been moved to the district court in Coburg, said Matthias Huber, district court director.
