Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony begins with voluntary corona mass tests: The residents of Räckelwitz (Bautzen district) and the surrounding districts are called today to be tested for the corona virus.
They can be tested free of charge and voluntarily in the local sports hall.
The almost 1000 residents can also be tested in Rathmannsdorf in Saxon Switzerland.
The aim of the rapid tests is to shed light on the number of unreported corona infections, explained Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD).
The Free State is initially making around 20,000 tests available for five severely affected districts - in total it should be up to 200,000.
According to the ministry, 419 out of 100,000 residents in the Bautzen district were demonstrably infected with corona within 7 days. In the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains, the value was 451.6.
