Munich (dpa / lby) - Building should be easier and faster in Bavaria in the future.

In order to achieve this goal, the state parliament passed a comprehensive reform of the Bavarian building code on Wednesday.

The new regulations come into force on February 1, 2021.

A key point is that the path to building permits should take a maximum of three months in future - by means of a new deadline: If there is still no decision after three months, the building permits applied for are automatically deemed to have been granted.

In addition, new regulations on spacing areas for new buildings, building with wood and mandatory parking spaces should make building easier and cheaper.

“It takes a lot too long,” said CSU MP Ulrike Scharf in the state parliament.

That will now change with the reform.

However, there was a lot of criticism from the opposition. The SPD, for example, complained about the different handling of spacing areas in the largest cities in Bavaria with over 250,000 inhabitants compared to all other municipalities in the Free State. The FDP called the building code reform an inadequate “novell”.
