SERIELAND RECO - "This is Us" on Prime Video, "This Way Up" on Mycanal, "Barbarians" on Netflix… In this new episode of SERIELAND, Eva Roque is interested in series with "badass" women.

Around the table, she invited Nora Bouazzouni, journalist and co-author of the web series "Badass", and Emilie Mazoyer, music specialist at Europe 1. This week, our serivore team is also recommending "Patria" on MyCanal, " Dash & Lily "on Netflix and" The Marvelous Mrs Maisel "on Prime Video.

They are strong, determined, they do not hide behind men and blow up sexist clichés.

More and more "badass" girls are joining our series.

This is the case of Beth Pearson, a mother who is by no means ready to give up her career for her husband.

She is one of the main characters of

This is Us

,

this series which tells 40 years of the life of a family and whose season 5 has just been released.

There is also Aine.

This young teacher is the heroine of

This Way Up,

a serial gem available on Mycanal.

After a heavy depression, she will try to get up thanks to the support of her sister and her strong character.

Finally on our screens, we can also currently discover Thusnelda.

The young woman from a tribe of Germans decides to oppose the Romans in the Netflix series Barbarians, which describes the battle of Teutoburg in the year 9 after Jesus Christ.

And to do this, she does not hesitate to fight and take up arms.

To analyze the characteristics of these super-heroines, Eva Roque invited two equally badass columnists: the journalist and co-author of the web-series Badass, Nora Bouazzouni, and Emilie Mazoyer, journalist specializing in music at Europe 1 but also keen on series.

What exactly is a "badass" girl?

Can we play a "badass" girl without being so in life?

Who are the most notable badass heroines in the series?

SERIELAND recommends you in this episode:

A series in which we all recognize ourselves:

This is Us

 on Prime Video

A

 quirky

and touching comedy:

on Mycanal

An Epic Series:

Barbarians

 on Netflix

Christmas Candy:

Dash & Lily

 on Netflix

A 50's comedy:

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

 on Mycanal

A dive into the ETA years:

Patria

 on Mycanal

The other series not to miss

Dash & Lily

New York, during the Christmas holidays.

On the one hand there is Dash, a smart teenager who hates Christmas.

On the other there is Lily, a hyper creative young woman who all year round dreams of only one thing: putting on pajamas and celebrating Christmas with her whole family.

The two teenagers do not know each other, they have never seen each other but their fate will intersect thanks to a mysterious treasure hunt set out in a red notebook found in a bookstore.

This Christmas series available for Netflix is a real guilty pleasure.

The romance, the Christmas atmosphere… it's all there.

But with music by Joni Mitchell and literary references, the series has just what it takes to pull it out of gnan-gnan fictions.

Eva Roque and Emilie Mazoyer's favorite:

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

We go to the fifties in the chic districts of New York.

This is where Midge Maisel, a chic and playful housewife, mother of two lives.

One day Joël, her husband, leaves her for her secretary.

Sad and alcoholic, she then goes to a bar where she often went with her husband who offers open scenes.

This is the revelation: she will tell her disappointments at the microphone and discover a real talent for stand-up!

Eva Roque would have liked to be Mrs Maisel in life… A wonderful woman because she is daring, charming, free.

She is looking forward to season 4!

In the meantime, the first 3 seasons are available on Amazon Prime Video.

The favorite of our guest Nora Bouazzouni:

Patria

Direction the Basque Country in the 90s, when the independence movement ETA opposed the state.

The story is told through the fate of two families linked by an assassination.

This Spanish series, adapted from the book of the same name, is powerful, brutal and touching at the same time.

The characters are strong and the achievement remarkable.

Also, we discover a part of history that we do not learn at school.
