UAE mourns the chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Anwar Gargash, the chief Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, wrote on his Twitter account, saying: “We lost (yesterday) dear colleague Dr. Saeb Erekat, after a health crisis that befell him."

Gargash added: “May God have mercy on Dr. Saeb, who represented his country and people with all sincerity and dedication.

Our condolences to the family of the deceased and to the Palestinian people.

And unto God and to Him we shall return".

The Secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, at the age of 65, died in the Israeli Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, yesterday, as a result of infection with the new Corona virus, according to what the Palestinian presidency announced.

The Palestinian Presidency, which announced mourning with flags for a period of three days, stated that Erekat's body will be transferred to a hospital near Ramallah, and a military funeral will be organized in the Muqata, where the presidency is located, before his body is buried in Jericho, where he lived most of his life.

President Mahmoud Abbas said that the death of Erekat "is a great loss for Palestine, and for our people."
