02 November 2020A little girl of just 3 years old named Elif, was miraculously extracted alive and only slightly injured from the rubble of her home, 65 hours after the earthquake that hit the Aegean Sea.



The number of victims in the province of Smyrna has currently risen to 83, while at least 962 are injured: 742 those discharged, while 220 are still hospitalized.

This is what is learned from the Turkish Civil Protection, Afad. 



With the little girl, 106 people were rescued and among these there are also the mother and two brothers of the child, while another brother died.

The earthquake also caused two deaths on the Greek island of Samos.

These are two teenagers who were buried yesterday.

At least 19 other people were injured.



Searches continue in 8 of the 20 collapsed buildings.

According to the Turkish Seismological Observatory, 947 aftershocks occurred following the main shock, 43 of which were of magnitude greater than 4 degrees.

There was a debate on the extent of the earthquake.

The United States Geological Survey (Usgs) rated it as 7.0, while the Kandilli Institute in Istanbul 6.9 and the Turkish residence for disaster and emergency management (Afad) 6.6.

The earthquake caused a small tsunami in the Seferihisar district of Izmir, where an elderly woman drowned, and on the island of Samos.

The tremors were felt throughout western Turkey, including Istanbul, as well as in the Greek capital Athens.
