While Sharjah Police confirmed that it is carrying out continuous campaigns on bicycles in various places, and confiscating violating bicycles, especially those traveling against the direction of traffic, or in unallocated places or over sidewalks and green spaces.

One of the visitors of the Sharjah Corniche, Ali Ahmed, said that he used to walk in the evening in the Sharjah Mamzar area, and he notices young people using bicycles on the sidewalks, which confuses people who exercise and exposes them to the risk of being run over, despite the availability of special places for cycling.

The housewife, Amal Muhammad, confirmed that she began visiting Khalid Lake with her family after the improvement of the weather, especially in the evening, but some people disturb the peace of hikers by practicing cycling activity in areas not designated for them, which poses a danger to children.

While one of the Sharjah Corniche visitors, who preferred not to be named, called on the concerned authorities to tighten control over the sports walkway and picnic places, and to violate non-compliant cyclists, in order to ensure the safety of walkers, especially since most of them are women and the elderly.

In turn, Sharjah Police confirmed that it is carrying out campaigns against cyclists throughout the year and in various regions, pointing out that the Traffic and Patrols Department, in cooperation with the strategic partners represented by the Sharjah City Municipality and the Bee'ah Company, launched an expanded campaign to control motorcycles and bicycles in violation. Drivers of delivery bicycles for restaurants and some shops, which cause disturbance of the safety and quiet of the street, confuse traffic and cause accidents.

The campaign came as a result of remarks received by Sharjah Police stating that some motorcyclists and bicyclists do not abide by traffic rules and traffic on the road, in addition to not adhering to safety measures.
