63 people were called for the first time today (26th) as the so-called'conscientious objection to military service' alternative service system, which refuses to enlist because of religion or belief.

They will serve in camps in correctional facilities for 36 months, twice the number of active duty soldiers, replacing military service.

63 conscientious objectors based on convictions such as religious conscience and nonviolent pacifism entered correctional facilities for alternative service.



The Alternative Service System was created in June 2018 when the Constitutional Court decided to include alternative service as a category of military service.

They live in a camp for the next three weeks in a room for eight people and receive alternative service training.



Upon completion of the training, you will be responsible for managing meals and supplies in the prison, as well as supporting health and sanitation.



Protection services using weapons were excluded as they could violate freedom of conscience.



Salary and vacation are the same as active duty soldiers, but the service period is twice that of active duty soldiers for 36 months.



If you leave your service, you will be served 5 times longer than the number of days you leave, and if you leave for more than 8 days, your transfer to the alternative service will be canceled and you will be subject to criminal punishment.
