- We have set up a plastic protection here that will protect against coronavirus, says Lars-Åke Andersson who sells pumpkins inside a barn.

Even though commerce is underway on Eriksöre village street, it is still not as usual.

- Here there are usually up to 80 different sellers, this year it is just over ten.

And those who do not come from here stand outside and sell their things, he says.

From Ulricehamn for icebergs

Despite the fact that the harvest festival itself has not taken place, visitors have found their way to Öland.

Even long-distance visitors.

Marianne Sundin and Gudrun Johansson have traveled from Vegby outside Ulricehamn.

They are going to buy icebergs.

- We were here last year and it was so nice, says Marianne.

Are you not afraid of being exposed to corona infection when you are here?

- Well, no, of course you have to be careful.

I have respect for that, says Gudrun Johansson.

"Everyone must step up"

Deputy infection control doctor Per-Åke Jarnheimer in the Kalmar region says that it is important that the visitors who come keep their distance.

- Of course you can expect more people to go to Öland this weekend, but it should not be as many as if it were a regular harvest party.

So I'm not particularly worried about the spread of infection.

- Those who are over 70 or in the risk groups should perhaps abstain.

And for everyone, it is important to sharpen up, says Per-Åke Jarnheimer.
