An Emirati ship arrives in the Lebanese capital with 2,400 tons of aid

A ship of aid run by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority arrived in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's representative in the Al Dhafra region, and the head of the Authority to support those affected by the Beirut Port explosion and improve their humanitarian conditions.

The ship carries 2,400 tons of relief needs that included food, medical and nutritional supplements for children, sterilizers, preventive measures and tools to mitigate the effects of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, on the Lebanese arena, in addition to various clothes.

The ship was received in Beirut port by members of the country's embassy in Lebanon, and its contents were delivered to the competent Lebanese authorities.

The Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Dr. Muhammad Ateeq Al Falahi, confirmed that the conduct of this shipment of humanitarian aid came within the framework of the directives of the wise leadership to provide everything that would meet the needs of the victims and those affected by the explosion and stand by the brothers in Lebanon in their current circumstances. It comes within the humanitarian and relief program implemented by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, on the Lebanese scene, with the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan to alleviate the human suffering caused by the disaster of the explosion.

Al-Falahi said that the authority was keen to deliver its aid to the affected people by air and sea to meet the increasing needs of the Lebanese people at the present time, indicating in this regard the continuation of the authority’s initiatives to transfer more urgent needs to Lebanon.

Al-Falahi added: “Our National Authority has prepared a solid plan in coordination with the Office of the Humanitarian and Development Commission at the State’s Embassy in Beirut, and the Lebanese authorities with competence to distribute the ship’s cargo of aid to those affected,” stressing that the Commission is making all humanitarian efforts within its capacity to keep pace with the scale of humanitarian challenges Which is facing the Lebanese arena, especially in the medical field, which requires concerted efforts and strengthening partnership between humanitarian workers to limit the repercussions of the explosion disaster.
