A 58-year-old man was indicted on Friday for murder after the discovery in early September of the body of a 61-year-old man tied to a chair in his home in Dampierre-sur-Loire (Maine-et-Loire), a- we learned from Eric Bouillard, prosecutor of the Republic of Angers.

The man was indicted for "theft with violence resulting in death and placed in detention," said the prosecutor.

The victim's body was discovered on September 3.

The man had suffered "significant violence" and "his death is linked to this violence", the prosecutor explained on September 8.

According to forensic expertise, the death dates back to Monday August 31 or Tuesday September 1.

The deceased man, Xavier Bondu, was the owner of a former mushroom farm and hosted artists in his troglodyte house, near Saumur.

A judicial investigation was opened for murder and "the investigation made it possible to link to these facts a person who committed a theft concomitant with the death (means of payment objects and vehicle of the victim), but who does not recognize the murder. », Eric Bouillard said on Friday.

The man, who admitted the theft, "had already been convicted of offenses against property and acts related to alcohol," added the prosecutor.
