American "Representatives": The crashes of two Boeing planes were the result of a "terrifying set" of errors

A report prepared by a US congressional committee concluded that the crashes of the Boeing Company, which killed 346 people in Indonesia and Ethiopia, were the result of a "horrific set" of errors committed by the company, as well as the poor performance of federal control agencies.

The House Transportation Committee said in its 238-page report, which it released today, that "repeated and dangerous failures" led to the crash of two 737 Max planes.

These failures included production pressures, including cost-cutting, flawed assumptions in autopilot design and a "culture of concealment" where Boeing concealed important information from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The report concluded that there was an improper relationship between Boeing and the Aviation Administration, which included "a conflict of interest that threatened passenger safety."

Boeing also had a major influence on the management's oversight structures.

According to the report, part of the pressure and the shortening in time, effort and cost came as a result of pressure in the framework of competition with Airbus, as well as earnings expectations from Wall Street investors.

The report was released after an 18-month investigation by the House Transportation Committee and is likely to lead to the enactment of new legislation.
