Due to typhoon weather, the Japanese Coast Guard has suspended search and rescue operations.

  The person in charge of the Japanese search and rescue team said that the sea and air search and rescue operations continued until noon on the 5th local time, and were suspended due to bad weather.

"We plan to resume searching when the ocean and weather improve, but we don't know how long we need to wait. Everything depends on the weather."

  The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts that the strong typhoon "Poseidon" is expected to approach Okinawa from the evening of the 5th to the early morning of the 6th local time and may land on Kyushu Island.

The typhoon will bring heavy rains and huge waves.

  According to previous reports, a cattle ship carrying 43 crew members and about 6,000 head of cattle issued a distress signal at about 1:45 am local time on the 2nd.

The location of the signal was in the sea about 185 kilometers west of Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture.

The Japan Meteorological Agency stated that at that time, the waters near Amami Oshima were in the area affected by Typhoon Mesak.

  The Japanese Coast Guard rescued the third crew member on the ship on the 4th, after another two crew members were rescued.
