- There is great frustration that road construction will not start. We have been waiting a long time now in Söderköping to get away from these queues. It is not fun to be associated with queues and traffic lights, says Maria Fredriksson, municipal director in Söderköping.

Söderköping's political reference group for E22 has now invited a meeting with the County Administrative Board and the Swedish Transport Administration together with four other affected municipalities.

The new section of the E22 is a national matter that constitutes one of the important national trunk roads in Sweden along the coast of Östergötland, among other places, the municipality writes in a press release.

"Brake pad for development"

- Holiday traffic is one thing but many commute and it is difficult to get through Söderköping. Many point out that it is often bridge openings, but it is the traffic lights that are the concern and that create this chaos, says Maria Fredriksson.

In addition to the traffic situation, the municipality's work with construction and development is also limited, she continues.

- We want to build and develop the municipality in different ways, but we will not move forward with those projects, so it will not only be a brake pad for those who go through but also a brake pad for our development, says Maria Fredriksson.
