At lunchtime today, Polarbröd held a press conference due to the heavy fire that destroyed large parts of the factory. According to CEO Karin Bodin, however, it is unclear whether the entire factory is completely destroyed.

- There are buildings that still stand, but it is unclear if they will stand tomorrow.

Should have inaugurated a new venture

Karin Bodin estimates that between 500 and 700 people are affected by the fire. The company also plans to rebuild the entire factory, but that they do not want to speculate on how long it may take.

- It is a high priority to build everything. Today we would have inaugurated a new investment for SEK 150 million and instead this happened, says Anders E Johansson, who is CEO of Polarbröd.

Polar bread: We have an approved fire protection

The company also does not want to comment on how a lump of dough could cause an entire factory to be set on fire, but that everything should be investigated. According to them, they have good fire preparedness.

- We have an approved fire protection and we have followed the continuous fire protection rounds that exist. But an investigation must be made into what has gone wrong, says site manager Lilian Nilsson.

During the press conference, Anders E Johansson, CEO of Polarbröd, also said that they are now reviewing whether they can move production to other productions so as not to lose everything. But nothing is currently decided or clear.
