They have been threatened, filmed, pushed and exposed to the risk of being infected with covid-19. Everyday life is tough for the environmental administration's inspectors who are out checking taverns every weekend to make sure they follow the law which says that it is the taverns' responsibility to ensure that no congestion occurs among the guests.

Since the first of July, the administrator at the environmental administration has the right to decide to close activities that do not follow the rules to counteract the spread of infection and also to impose a fine.

But since then, the frustration of guests and pub owners against the inspectors has increased.

- It has become a bit tougher climate in recent times. Especially at night, congestion and alcohol intake increase, says Angelica Winter, head of food control.

"Always worried"

An incident that took place last weekend has led to the administration making a police report.

Beatrice Ljungqvist has worked as an inspector for just over a year, and says that she herself has never been exposed to serious threats during the pub inspections. However, she knows several colleagues who have become so.

- You are always worried when you go out. You can handle when it's just words, and you have the opportunity to go from there. But it is clear that you are worried that it will be more than just words, she says.
