Västerbottenskuriren, VK, was first with the news.

- We have now told that we are starting a process of a potential closure, says Mads Storgaard Mehlsen, vice president, to VK.

He says that the reason for the closure is that a new standard for doors will be introduced in the EU and that it means costs for the company that has to invest in new machines.

78 employees are affected

- Of course, it is sad when we have to make such decisions. At first, everyone was shocked and sad. They had no questions and they must be allowed to reflect on the incident, says Storgaard Mehlsen to SVT.

Vännäs - the smallest factory

Three of the factories in the Jeld-Wen Group need to upgrade their production to meet the new standard and Jeld-Wen has chosen to close Vännäs Dörr, as it is the smallest factory.

- Vännäs is the smallest, and does not have the capacity to take over production if we were to close another unit, says Storgaard Mehlsen to VK.

The closure is expected at the earliest at the beginning of next year.
