Scientists have come to the conclusion that people with a negative Rh factor are more likely to become infected with COVID-19, and they are also more difficult to tolerate the disease. The corresponding study, carried out by specialists from the Spanish University of Barcelona and the Brazilian University of Campinas, is published on the medRxiv portal.

Scientists studied the factors that caused the rapid spread of COVID-19 in 126 countries and noted that the exponential increase in the number of infections was typical for countries with a large number of residents with negative Rh factor.

The study notes that the rapid infection of this group of people may be due to the connection between the Rh factor and the body's immune response. They also have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular, respiratory and other diseases, which can complicate the course of the coronavirus.

The situation with COVID-19 in Russia

In Russia, over the past day, 5,057 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected (over the past day - 5,102 cases). During this time, 6,098 people also recovered, 124 patients died.

Thus, the total number of recorded cases of coronavirus in the country reached 907 758. 716 396 people were cured of the disease, 15 384 patients died.

Rospotrebnadzor clarified that more than 31.5 million tests have already been carried out in Russia to detect coronavirus infection, 233 812 people remain under medical supervision.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, during a conversation with the medical staff of the Chukotka Regional Hospital, said that the launch of the production of a vaccine against coronavirus would reduce the risk of illness among medical workers.

He recalled that the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Gamalei has already started a vaccine production project.

“Depending on how this process goes, I think that there will be no such risk of working with coronavirus patients. Everything will be more or less under our control, ”he said.

We will remind, on the eve of the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko said that the first batches of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Center will be released in the next 14 days. According to him, the production of the drug will primarily be focused on meeting internal needs. The minister stressed that vaccination will be voluntary.

The Governor of the Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov, speaking about vaccinations in the region, also confirmed that medical workers will be among the first to be vaccinated.

“We will receive the first batches of this vaccine so that, first of all, those who are in contact with patients - these are health workers, then they will be teachers, elderly people - can get vaccinated to eliminate any health risks,” he said he.

In turn, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development Anastasia Rakova said that more than a thousand patients have already received donor plasma with antibodies to coronavirus infection in the capital.

“To date, 1,047 patients have already received immune plasma in the city's hospitals, 686 of them have already recovered and were discharged from hospitals,” RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

Preliminary results from the study showed that transfusing donor plasma in moderately severe patients reduces the likelihood that they will need mechanical ventilation by 63%.

During an online conference with reporters, Moore said that the region is ready to lift the current restrictions.

“I believe that we need to return to normal life, remove restrictions. I think that we have already learned to live with this. Our enterprises and citizens understand their measure of responsibility in terms of compliance with sanitary standards prescribed by Rospotrebnadzor, ”said the governor.
