Police dogs at the Security Inspection Department (K9) of Dubai Police achieved an accuracy rate of more than 91% in the ability to detect the Corona virus, by smelling the smell of the infected, according to tests conducted on about 400 samples during the last three weeks, in a room designated for that at Dubai International Airport. .

The Director of the Security Inspection Department at Dubai Police, Major Salah Khalifa Al Mazrouei, said, "The results achieved are very good, and represent a fast and effective factor in the examination processes," indicating that the UAE is the first in the world in its effective experience.

He added, on the sidelines of a press conference to announce the convening of the third K9 International Police Dog Forum on August 16, "Dubai Police has designated an isolated room at Dubai Airport to test the detection of the Coronavirus using sniffer dogs."

He pointed out that the test by police dogs is done in cooperation with partners in the Dubai Health Authority, which is responsible for bringing samples from travelers, placing them in a technical way in containers designated for this, and then arranging them in what looks like metal cones that fit the size of the dog's head, to smell them, and as soon as the virus is detected. It sits in front of the infected specimen.

He explained that police dogs can detect the Corona virus through the smell of a person, pointing out that the samples collected are smelled remotely, without the need for the dog to approach and expose him or his trainer to any risks associated with infection, and the results appear within less than a minute.

The Director of the General Administration of Bodies, Facilities and Emergency Security, Major General Abdullah Ali Al-Ghaithi, said that the International Police Dog Forum comes within the framework of the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lieutenant-General Abdullah Khalifa Al-Marri, to strengthen the important role that the Security Inspection Department (k9) plays in combating and controlling crime and its perpetrators Securing important sites and events in the country.

He pointed out that Dubai Police has worked on developing the K9 Security Inspection Department, by introducing basic changes to ensure improved performance and raising the efficiency of systems, methods and training programs.
