Last month, a Shikoku dog kept in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture ran away and a child and others were bitten and injured. Police said the owner had failed to take measures to prevent the dog from escaping, such as tying the dog.

The owner was also referred to the prosecutor's office on suspicion of violating the Rabies Prevention Act. The dog's owner's wife is also suspected of biting and injuring her daughter while walking the dog in a park in the city last December.
