It was on Tuesday that the explosion in the port area of ​​Beirut occurred. According to information, it took place in a warehouse in the port where explosive goods were stored, next to a large silo that was completely destroyed.

Thousands have been injured and more than a hundred have been confirmed dead.

- We watched the news and saw what happened. My wife started crying right away. It's awful. It is a disaster, says Karlskrona resident Khoder Braiteh, who has relatives and friends left in his home country.

Very worried

He immediately contacted his cousins ​​and brothers to see if they were okay.

- There is a lot of concern there right now. You could say that the whole area is dead. Everyone feels very bad. I have several friends who are injured and also some who have died.

Memories come back

Khoder Braiteh has lived in Karlskrona for over 30 years, but the memories of war in his home country Lebanon now come back with what has happened.

- I get a lot of memories back and am very much affected by this. I feel sick, feel bad and cry a lot. All memories come back.
