- Sweden: At least 20 injured in a strong explosion
The shooting death of a 12-year-old girl near Stockholm caused a huge commotion in Sweden on Monday, as the country suffers from increased shootings among criminal gangs.
The teenager, who was probably not the target of bullets , was fatally injured early Sunday morning outside a fast-food restaurant in Norsborg, a modest, generally quiet neighborhood located in the south of the Swedish capital, the policeman.
Since this death occurred, neighbors have placed burning flowers and candles forming a heart at the crime scene, an AFP journalist found.
"This should no longer happen. She was a 12-year-old girl, damn them . Those who live here deserve a better life," says indignant Christina Lundström, a 51-year-old neighbor who came to gather and pray. "No politician is here to show her support, what a fiasco!" , deplores Daniel Acat, 32 years old.
Justice Minister Morgan Johansson told the TT news agency his "shock and disgust" at a case that has sparked numerous reactions.
According to Swedish media, two members of a criminal gang present at the scene were the real targets of the numerous shots.
Generally peaceful, with one of the lowest murder rates in the world, Sweden has been facing a problem of explosive device use and shootings of buildings, vehicles and, more recently, people for several years.
In the first half of 2020 in Sweden, 20 people were killed in 163 shootings , according to police. Last year, 42 people died in 334 violent incidents.
