"In St. Petersburg, the activities of participants in a terrorist cell from among the natives of one of the Central Asian republics, involved in the financing of the banned in Russia international terrorist organization Islamic State, were suppressed," the FSB's public relations center said.

Earlier, the FSB reported that immigrants from Central Asia, IS supporters who were planning the assassination of security officials, were detained in Russia. It was noted that they also raised money for the needs of terrorists and may be involved in recruiting followers.
