27 July 2020 For the leader of the Democratic Party in the Lombardy region, Fabio Pizzul, Fontana is "a weak president and at the end of the race" and his words spoken in the courtroom served only "to defend himself without giving answers and guarantees to the Lombards". On the no-confidence motion announced by the M5s after Fontana's involvement in the lab coats case, "we have to evaluate: the goal is to make this junta fall and send home", explained Pizzul.

"We need to understand which is the most effective tool - concluded the group leader dem -: the risk of an immediate motion is that the majority should be made up, rather than dropping a fountain". To file the motion, 16 signatures are needed, while the M5s has only 13 councilors on the regional council.
