The Israeli army announced today, Thursday, the reinforcement of its forces on the border with Lebanon, after Hezbollah vowed to avenge one of its leaders who was killed in an Israeli raid near Damascus International Airport last Monday.

On Twitter, IDF spokesman Avikhai Adraei wrote, "Given the assessment of the situation, it was decided to send infantry reinforcements to the northern military command."

It was reported that the Israeli army raised the alert status in the northern command along the border with Lebanon, and reinforced its military forces by sending an infantry battalion of the "Elite Brigade Golani".

This came after security assessments conducted by the army last night in anticipation of Hezbollah's response to the killing of one of its prominent members in the latest attack attributed to Israel in Syria.

Canceling maneuvers
In an exceptional move yesterday, the Israeli army canceled extensive military maneuvers that were scheduled in the Northern Command, as Israeli media reported that this comes to prevent any possible escalation and reduce the risk of friction and tension in the region, following threats by Hezbollah to respond to the killing of one of its prominent elements. .

Earlier, Hezbollah mourned Ali Kamel Mohsen, a prominent leader in the party descended from southern Lebanon, and Mohsen was killed in an Israeli air strike near Damascus International Airport.

This is the first member of the party to announce his death in an Israeli raid since the leader of the party, Hassan Nasrallah, warned last year that any further death of the party in Syria would be met.

Western intelligence sources said that the Israeli raid hit a major ammunition depot, backed by Iran, on the outskirts of the Syrian capital.

The Syrian media reported that the air defenses repelled a new Israeli "aggression" over Damascus.
