The man has denied the crime, but the district court considers it proven that one evening in May he mortarized a drug-classified preparation and poured it into a cup of cappucino that he served to his wife. She became very dizzy and nauseous with vomiting and was later taken by ambulance to hospital.
The district court does not think that the man's description of and explanation for the incident, that the nausea and poisoning symptoms were due to bad milk, is credible. The man is convicted of aggravated assault and must also pay damages to the woman.
