“Based on information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission decided to stop the relay of five RT programs on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania,” Mantas Martisius, the commission’s representative, quoted LRT as saying.

According to him, such a decision was made because of sanctions against Dmitry Kiselyov, and not because of violations, therefore, RT representatives did not participate in the meeting.

Earlier, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry announced that a parliamentary commission on radio and television would be recommended to ban the broadcast of RT group TV channels.

On June 30, broadcasting of seven channels of the RT group was banned in Latvia. The TV channels RT, RT HD, RT Arabic, RT Spanish, RT Documentary HD, RT Documentary, RT TV were banned.

The decision to ban broadcasting was made in accordance with EU sanctions.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) called for the reversal of this decision.

In addition, the Estonian Foreign Ministry reported that it approves the ban of Latvia. According to the agency, in Estonia they will analyze the effectiveness of such a measure as “the implementation of financial sanctions”

Dmitry Kiselyov, who is under EU sanctions, does not work for RT, he is the general director of another media - MIA Russia Today. Companies are two separate legal entities.
