  • The night of June 27-28, a teenager was assaulted by adults in Heyrieux, in Isère.
  • Among the men suspected, a gendarme is suspected of not having helped the victim while he was attending the scene, and of having tried to intimidate him during the filing of the complaint.

He will have to explain himself to his peers. Four people, including a gendarme from Isère, were taken into police custody on Wednesday at the premises of the Lyon research section as part of an investigation into "voluntary violence in a meeting", learned 20 minutes to the prosecution confirming information from the Dauphiné Libéré.

These investigations were launched last week after the beating of a 16-year-old boy, whose family had complained on June 28, a few hours after the alleged events. That night, in Heyrieux, when he was out for an evening with friends, the boy had, according to him, been attacked by several adults, including the father of his ex-girlfriend.

An attempt at intimidation?

He had been severely beaten in the face. The teenager then told the police the following day that a gendarme was part of the punitive expedition and that he had not helped him during the beatings. Worse, the gendarme, also a city councilor in Isère, would have dissuaded a friend of the victim from helping him. When the complaint was lodged, he also went to the barracks where the boy and his father were to intimidate them before being asked to leave by the gendarmes receiving the victim.

The investigation, initially entrusted to the Vienna research brigade, was finally transferred in the neighboring department to the Lyon research section. Beyond the heads of "voluntary violence in a meeting", the gendarme will have to explain the facts of "failure to assist a person in danger" and "subordination of witnesses".
