INTERVIEW

It's the big day for bac candidates. They have known since Tuesday morning whether they have officially won the precious diploma. Officially, because in reality there will be little surprise. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the final exams were canceled, and continuous testing was favored for the final grade. Some are already pointing to a discount bin. "It should not be considered at all like that," replied Europe 1 Tuesday Lysiane Gervais, national secretary of the SNPDEN and principal of a high school in Gironde.

"The students were still extremely disturbed by this completely new and special school year. And many worked a lot in teleworking, as we know. They did not deserve it," argues Lysiane Gervais. "What is important is that the students are treated well and that we find the usual success rates in the baccalaureate. Which will be the case."

"There was compensation that had to be done at one time or another"

However, the Ministry of Education has indeed issued instructions for the student grades to be revised, most often upwards. "In certain establishments, there are perhaps a little more strict marks, and these pupils usually make their mark in punctual tests by performing, by having good results. So there was a compensation which had to happen at one time or another, "said the union member.

"It was set up by the ministry of harmonization commissions by establishment, which took into account the averages of the last three years at the baccalaureate of success," continues Lysiane Gervais, who refuses to speak of nickname. "No, absolutely not. Ultimately, it's neutral," she says.
