IG supporter detained: FSB prevented terrorist attack in Vladikavkaz

The FSB of Russia detained a man in Vladikavkaz who planned to carry out a terrorist attack. 

It is specified that the detainee turned out to be a supporter of the Islamic State terrorist group *.

“As a result of the measures taken, a Russian citizen born in 1990 was arrested who was preparing to detonate a makeshift explosive device near one of the administrative buildings of the republican center, after which he planned to leave for the military zone in the Middle East to participate in the activities of the ISIS international terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation ", - reported in the service.

FSB officers found components for the manufacture of an explosive device in a man’s equipped cache, and also found correspondence with members of the Islamic State located abroad.

A criminal case was instituted on the fact of what happened under Part 2 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization). In addition, the issue of additional initiation of a criminal case under part 3 of art. 30 and h. 1 Article 205 of the Criminal Code (attempt on a terrorist act).

The agency also published a video of the detention of a man. Security officials grabbed a suspect near the car. When asked why he came there, the man said "take a briefcase." Also on the record are the wires and a plastic bottle filled with nails that were seized from the detainee. 

In turn, the TASS agency, citing the press service of the FSB Directorate for North Ossetia, reported that the man was arrested and pleaded guilty. He also said that he considered, in particular, the City Hall of Vladikavkaz and the building of the Supreme Court of the Republic of North Ossetia as objects for the attack.

“Intelligence was carried out in several administrative buildings in the center of Vladikavkaz. Photos were found of the city hall, the former building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on (street. - RT ) Butyrina, the building of the Supreme Court and others, ”the statement said.

Incidents in other regions

Recall that at the end of May in Dagestan, the security forces neutralized six militants who planned to carry out the attacks. According to the NAC, during the operational-search activities in the Khasavyurt district, information was received about a group of armed bandits in the forest. When trying to detain the criminals put up armed resistance, after which law enforcement officers neutralized them. According to the committee, the militants were also associated with the Islamic State. During the operation, one commando was wounded.

At the end of April, employees of the Federal Security Service prevented the attacks in Yekaterinburg, eliminating the three militants who planned the attack during a special operation in the Chkalovsky district of the city. 

On the proposal to surrender to the authorities, the bandits opened fire. By the forces of the special forces of the FSB of Russia, they were neutralized, ”the NAC said. Homemade explosive devices, weapons and ammunition were discovered at the site of the shootout with the militants.

According to reports, the criminals were supporters of the Islamic State and were preparing to commit "resonant crimes of a terrorist nature."

In early April, another supporter of the Islamic State was neutralized in Murmansk. The man also intended to commit a terrorist attack. When trying to detain the militant opened fire on special forces and was neutralized.

On March 27, the federal security service announced the prevention of the terrorist attack in Krasnodar. Siloviki detained a Russian born in 1993, in whose car they found a makeshift bomb, and correspondence with militants of the “Islamic State” on the phone. The explosive device was stuffed with metal bolts and screws to enhance the damaging effect. Where exactly the man wanted to carry out the attack, the FSB did not specify. 

In addition, on March 20, FSB officers announced the suppression of the activities of the Islamic State cell, which operated in the Crimea, Rostov Region and the Komi Republic. The participants in the cell created an interregional fundraising network for the IG. As a result, under the guise of charity, about 2 million rubles were transferred to the accounts of terrorists.
