The epidemic situation in Beijing is severe and complex, involving multiple industries, scenarios, symptoms and transmission routes

There were 17 newly diagnosed cases in Beijing on the 26th. A total of 297 confirmed cases have been reported since June 11 and 25 cases of asymptomatic infections are still under medical observation.

The Beijing Center for Disease Control stated on the 27th that of the 17 newly diagnosed cases, 15 were in Fengtai District and 2 in Daxing District, of which 14 patients were operating and sales staff in the beef and mutton comprehensive trading hall in the new market. The 297 cases involved 11 districts in Beijing, including 202 cases in the Fengtai district where the new market is located, accounting for 68%.

Xu Hejian, deputy minister of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, said at the news conference that the epidemic situation in the capital was severe and complicated. Judging from the case analysis, epidemiological results, and propagation trajectory since the cluster epidemic occurred in the new market, the industry, scenes, personnel, routes, and symptoms involved in the epidemic are complex and diverse, and we cannot afford to be careless. Anyone who takes it lightly may cause new problems, and any environment or objects contaminated by viruses may bring new spreads.

Expert: Mosquitoes do not have the biological basis to transmit new coronavirus

Summer is approaching, whether the mosquitoes and flies will spread the new coronavirus is also of concern to the outside world. Wang Liping, a researcher at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said on the 27th that according to current research, mosquitoes and flies do not have the biological basis to transmit new coronaviruses.

Liping Wang said that from the epidemiological evidence that has been obtained, there is no report of human infection of the new coronavirus caused by vectors such as mosquitoes and flies. The new coronavirus mainly spreads through droplets, or the hands come into contact with objects contaminated by infected people and then touch the eyes, mouth or nasal mucosa to cause infection.

She said that although the evidence does not support mosquitoes as a vector to spread the new coronavirus, mosquitoes have the risk of transmitting other infectious diseases, such as malaria and dengue fever. The public should take protective measures against mosquito bites at home and outdoors, and pay attention to properly preserve food. By taking effective measures against mosquitoes and flies, the risk of vector-borne and intestinal infections can be greatly reduced.
