As Malin Brännberg works in childcare, she has not been able to work from home, but has instead taken leave to reduce the risk of infection. Now, together with others in the same situation, she can apply for the temporary sickness benefit that the Riksdag decided on Tuesday.

The new sickness benefit can be applied for by persons in risk groups and in some cases also by their relatives. The remuneration is a maximum of SEK 804 per day for 90 days.

Long awaited message

According to Malin Brännberg, today's message is long awaited by many.

- Many, many are relieved now, it has been a tough wait with much concern, she says, but at the same time adds that she is critical to the message being delayed.

Many worried about the fall

Malin Brännberg also says that although many can now receive financial support, it is only temporary and many are already worried about what happens later.

- Many people still feel a lump in their stomachs for the future and autumn, she says

The National Board of Health estimates that as many as 210,000 people may be present for the temporary sickness benefit, which is proposed to enter into force on 1 July and is valid until September.
