June 9, 2020 The Commission of Inquiry into the death of Giulio Regeni has asked to hear "urgently" the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte "in light of the latest significant developments regarding Italian-Egyptian bilateral relations". This was announced by the President of the Commission, Erasmo Palazzotto, underlining that Conte's hearing is "preliminary, from a political and institutional point of view, to the continuation of any other investigative activity.

The office of the Presidency, integrated by the representatives of the groups of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the death of Giulio Regeni, states Palazzotto's note, "unanimously resolved to proceed to urgently audit the President of the Council of Ministers, Giuseppe Conte, also in relation to his recent direct dialogue with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

"The Bureau met extraordinary today, canceling the hearing already scheduled, has also agreed - he continues the President - to consider the hearing of the President of the Council of Ministers preliminary, from a political and institutional point of view, to the continuation of any other investigative activity ".
