Italy: the four Egyptians accused of the murder of Giulio Regeni will be tried in absentia. The four Egyptian secret service agents – General Tareq Saber, Colonels Aser Kamal and Hicham Helmi as well as Commander Magdi Cherif – are accused of Regeni's murder.

Regeni, 28, was found in a ditch near Cairo on February 3, 2016, nine days after his kidnapping. The Egyptian authorities have always refused to provide the contact details of Egyptian agents to Italian justice.
