The accident resulted in traffic interruption for several hours on the A20 motorway in the Lot. A heavy vehicle transporting cattle caught fire late Wednesday afternoon in the town of Nadillac, north of Cahors, in the direction of Toulouse - Paris.

When he became aware of the fire at the back of his two-level trailer, the driver pulled over to the emergency lane and took the animals out of the lower level. According to France Bleu Occitanie, a dozen cattle wandered on the highway, before finding shelter. While 26 cows were saved, seven others died in the incident.

Vinci Autoroutes patrollers, Lot firefighters and Cahors gendarmes intervened to control the fire and help restore road traffic.
