This autumn, Uppsala and Västmanland were hit by a series of steering thefts. At that time, the police listed over 15 reports in Region Mitt and now it is believed that a new wave has come.

During the last weekend of May, five car burglaries were reported and what the thieves targeted are German cars of newer model.

The items stolen are primarily knobs, but also xenon lights and airbags are theft-prone.

"These are huge sums they earn on these crimes and Sweden is a bit of a sandwich table in this case," said police spokesman Jonas Eronen.
