Transit trips, job and love trips are allowed for Swedes who want to go to Denmark. The Danish government has decided this and the decision is valid since May 25.

The rules mean that only Swedes who cross Denmark or who have a job or a love relationship in the country are welcome.

- You just have to be able to show documents that you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, husband or wife, here. For example, you should be able to show paper or photographs that prove that you have been in a relationship for six months. If you do not have a document, you can sign a piece of paper certifying that you have a relationship yourself, says the Danish Ministry of Justice's press secretary Jakob Kronholm, to SVT News Skåne, on Monday.

However, the general provision is that Swedish tourists are not allowed to travel to Denmark because of the risk of infection by the corona virus.

Stick with Swedish advice

However, the Danish recommendations conflict with the Swedish councils. The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to discourage Swedes from unnecessary travel to all countries due to the spread of the coronavirus, a recommendation that is valid until July 15 this summer.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visitor and tourist trips are not considered necessary trips, and Sweden therefore does not advise its citizens to visit their girlfriend in Denmark. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs points out that this is not a ban but a recommendation.

Scouts can have their own rules

According to the Danish government, Denmark is in dialogue with Sweden and Finland and changes may be made to the travel recommendations before 31 August. For Sweden, for example, these are regional recommendations with a particular focus on the Öresund region.

- We have had an ongoing dialogue for some time. We may be able to make exceptions in the future for regions that are close to Sweden, says Jakob Kronholm, press secretary at the Danish Ministry of Justice, to SVT News Skåne.

Here but no longer

From June 15, all Danes who want to travel to Germany, Iceland and Norway can. For trips to Sweden, however, as well as the rest of Europe, the Danes are advised against all unnecessary trips until 31 August.

- The Danes are a well-traveled people who want to get out and have experiences. But the pandemic is not yet over in the world and there is a long way to go before the world opens properly. The Danes' security and safety are the highest priority, says Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, in a press release on Friday.
