“Mikhail Turgiev and the American journalists who were next to him were subjected to unlawful treatment by local police,” said Antonov in a statement posted on the embassy’s Facebook page.

The statement notes that the journalists loudly and clearly identified themselves, had the necessary markings on their clothes, presented documents and did not show any resistance.

“On this outrageous fact, a note of protest was sent to the State Department. We demanded to conduct a thorough investigation and inform us of its results, ”Antonov said.
