  The United Nations Military Gender Equality Advocate Award was established in 2016 to commend peacekeepers who have made outstanding contributions and efforts in promoting UN Resolution 1325 on promoting women, peace and security. Xin Yuan is the only person nominated by UNIFIL to the United Nations Headquarters and is the first Chinese peacekeeper female soldier to receive this honor.
